Competition Director Brian Broom telephoned me one evening recently inviting me on the ESA's AllStar Team for 2007 as an opening became available for me to attend. "I'm so excited to inform you that you'll be surfing in Australia and New Zealand to represent the East Coast's finest surfers this summer", explained an excited Mr. Broom over the phone. "Do you want to go with us, Savannah?"
I'm still shaken from his phone call and could hardly contain myself while I was sitting in the kitchen with my parents whom were grinning from ear-to-ear as they had already been told earlier and were awaiting Mr. Broom's evening phone call before telling me.
This latest summertime surfing opportunity will fill almost the entire summer for me with surfing and traveling abroad. At the age of fourteen, I will have surfed and traveled Various Mexican breaks on the Pacific, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Cape Hatteras, almost the whole east coast of Florida, South California and now Australia and New Zealand. I can't express the excitement inside me as the summer approaches and my travels begin. I could have never gotten as far as I have without the support of my parents and surf coach Josh Wilson. The value that my sponsors have added to my surfing endeavors is extraordinary and I can't thank everyone enough for their support.
Everyone please pray for not only my health and safety this summer but for all the surfer/athletes that I will be traveling with. I've been reading about Great White Sharks in both Australia and New Zealand but I think I'll be safe with all the other groms out surfing with me, there should be a large menu selection for Whitey. Seriously though, I'm more worried about a sports injury, infection or illness, so keep us in prayer continuously this summer.
OH... Yes Mr. Broom, YES! I want to go with you guys! I'll be updating my website in the next few days to communicate this exciting news to my friends. Thank you.
